After more than a year of study, conceptualization, and review, the facilities task force determined that constructing a new building for 5th and 6th graders was the most effective and economical way to meet the forever classroom capacity needs of our community. Situated on main campus with a primary entrance off of Refugee Rd, this new Watkins Middle School will provide modern classroom and enrichment spaces for 1,000 students. The planned design includes spacious core spaces that give way to two 2-story academic wings to separate 5th and 6th grade programming. An access road will connect this portion of campus to Warrior Way. By separating our 6th grade students out of the current middle school the existing building will function as a true Junior High School, housing only 7th and 8th graders.
